Spring Fever: An Ode to Taurus

by Dabney Oliver May 06, 2010 03:13 PM EST

Everyone I know has Spring Fever right now. As we collectively emerge from the hibernation of winter and dust off the lawn chairs, let's contemplate what it means to bask in the first Sun many of us have seen for months, which is currently in Taurus.

Taurus is a beautiful sign, simultaneously full of promise and ease. Taurus, ruled by the Second House, is a sign that reminds us of the importance of security, the power of belonging and, for that matter, belongings.

In readings, I find Taurus people fall distinctively into three categories: one is the luxury-loving, spa-going, Louis-Vuiton-buying diva, another is a granola-eating, nature-loving earth momma, and the third is an odd hybrid of someone who enjoys the finer things but also requires the natural world for peace of mind.

I think one of the most important marks of Taurus energy is that it's a nice counterbalance to Scorpio energy. The intensity, drama and depth that is necessary for us all to experience as we dive into winter is present in the Scorpio Sun. Taurus on the other hand, gives us a nice reminder that it doesn't all have to be drama, doom, gloom and dark.

Moms, while it's tough to balance everything in your lives, now is the time to brighten it up. Bring out the summer clothes, kick your feet up and admire the roses in the garden. Take pleasure in the smell of your little one's cute baby breath.

Spring Fever is here! Mothers unite. Stop taking it all so seriously. Go for a hike. Buy a new pair of shoes. Life ain't all that bad.

Yay! Sun! Yay! Flowers!
